Senses

 I am learning every day
My senses help in every way.

My two eyes help me to see
Colors, shapes, a friend, a tree.

My two ears help me to hear
Sounds around me loud and clear.

After listening to the book on tape, the kids all wanted to hear
it one, make that two, more times.
Jake was nice enough to read it for us.

In library we listened to Mrs. Lowery read a story.

Next, we used our new technology to easily watch and read along.
(I can't wait to set it up in our classroom soon. Thank you to those
who made it possible. We LOVE YOU!!!)
I have a nose to help me smell
And breath air in and out so well.

This was not just plain old watercolors. No! We painted with.......... wait for it
 ......wait for it.....

....we painted with sweet smelling KOOL-AID.
Yes, I said KOOL-AID and we drew with SMELLY MARKERS.
Final Results were SWEET!!!
My body's skin helps me to touch
The soft, smooth things I love so much!

At one of the centers, they had to use their sense of touch to
guess what was in the bag.
Thursday is computer day. They got to use their fingers to control
the mouse and to type.

We are learning to correctly hold the pencil and to write our first name.

It take a lot of focus and concentration.

This week we learned that the letter B is
for balloon, banana, bell and boots!

The letter N is for nest, nice, and cheese nips.

Something new in the classroom can spark their curiosity.

The last day of the week brings our last sense......taste. YUMMY!
I have a tongue to help me eat
And taste things salty and things sweet.

The "icing on the cake" was the fact that we helped Mr. Tater get
it together and we earned a party. Bubbles and Neapolitan  Ice Cream. (In honor of the letters of the week)
I know they don't really go together but they make for one fun day!

We enjoyed 2 snacks today. Lane brought a bag of crunch, chewy, salty, sweet, snacks.

We had a little time for the sugar to take effect and
so we ran and jumped and climbed and then I....
gave them a hug and SENT THEM HOME! :0)
